Information for RBVI Visitors
On February 8, 2003 we were among the first research groups to move to the new UCSF Mission Bay campus. Situated in the Mission Bay district of San Francisco, The Resource for Biocomputing, Visualization, and Informatics (RBVI) is located on the southwest corner of campus in Genentech Hall (see campus map).
Maps and directions are available from several sources: UCSF | Google | Yahoo | MapQuest
If you are using public transportation, 511 Transit provides a wealth of information for planning your trip. The San Francisco Muni T-Third Street railway line stops at the UCSF Mission Bay Station located on Third Street near 16th Street.
If you need a hotel to stay in, here's a list of nearby hotels.
Once you're on campus...
It's pretty easy to find Genentech Hall.
It's the largest building on the Mission Bay campus
(see campus map).
The main entrance is on the north-east corner of the building.
If you're driving you can park in either the
Third Street Garage near the corner of 3rd and 16th Streets,
or in the Community Center Garage on Owens Street.
If you're coming from another UCSF campus location
on one of the shuttle buses, the shuttle stops
either at the Community Center or on 4th Street.
The main entrance to Genentech Hall is located adjacent to Koret Quad,
to the left of a large set of circular steps.
Visitors must sign in at the security guard station.
Use the elevators immediately behind the guard station
and take one to the 4th floor.
The RBVI is at the far end of the building,
on the right (north) side of the main corridor.
Call the phone number listed above if you have any problems
or would like to be escorted from the security guard station.
