Software Embedded in Chimera

The items in the list below are links to where you can obtain the source-code distributions for some of the software packages incorporated into Chimera. All of this software comes bundled with the Chimera release, but the links to the source distributions are included here for completeness. In general, it should be possible to upgrade to newer versions, but we'd rather you waited for a new Chimera release. In particular, do not upgrade Togl nor Pmw. Our modifications generally add features to a given package and make it compatible with Chimera. Consequently, you should be able to use our version with other Pythons.

This list may be out-of-date.

Numeric 21.0
The Numeric Python extensions.
This software was originally written by Jim Hugunin when he was at MIT, later at CNRI.

Then Paul Dubois of LLNL became the "keeper". LLNL has released any contributions to it by LLNL personnel for free redistribution. However, many people have contributed to it. It is a classic open source effort that nobody "owns". So, Numerical Python is placed in the SourceForge under the Python license. -- Paul F. Dubois, Jan. 13, 2000.
