It would be nice if we can search documentation that comes with ChimeraX and installed bundles without having to be online, e.g., using Google to search the ChimeraX web site. Some challenges are:

  • identify index/search package to use,
  • identify when indexing will happen,
  • constructing list of all documentation files and their URIs.

Possible search indexers include Solr, Elasticsearch, Whoosh and Xapian. The ChimeraX Toolshed is currently using whoosh.
