    33Testing the 1.8 release candidate and 1.9 daily build from June 3, 2024, on the Intel iMac on my office desk it crashes when ChimeraX is simply started on the iMac display and the external display is unplugged.  Surprisingly it does not crash if I first move ChimeraX to the external display and unplug and replug and unplug and replug.  Maybe if it is on the main display ChimeraX is not getting the add/remove screen Qt notifications.

     5If I open ChimeraX 1.8 with no external display, hide file history so black graphics pane shown, the plug in external monitor, wait for it to connect, no crash, then unplug external monitor and ChimeraX crashes immediately.  If I do not hide the file history then these steps do not cause a crash.  So it seems the cause is still that the ChimeraX is drawing the graphics.
