• Endowed viz position search
  • Just 3 applicants so far since announcement 3 weeks ago, none appear qualified.

• CGL email server possible shutdown
  • Tom Ferrin, Brian Shoichet, Hal Collard and others will meet a week from Friday to discuss CGL email server.
  • Suspect UCSF IT wants to shutdown CGL email.
  • This will be disruptive to ChimeraX project since mailing list and bug reporting uses that email.
  • Also transition to alternative email will impair endowed chair search.
  • Also UCSF email blocks exchange of Python scripts which is a frequent need for our work.
  • We could propose shutting it down over one year (by May 2027 when Wynton is shut down) to give time to change over.

• ChimeraX distribution export control
  • UCSF office of export control requested info about ChimeraX and Chimera distribution.
  • They want to make sure distribution is blocked for 5 sanctioned countries (Iran, North Korea, Cuba, ...).
  • They requested last 5 years of download IP addresses.
