Description
Lauched chimerax from terminal. Got message "WARNING: GBM is not supported with the current configuration. Fallback to Vulkan rendering in Chromium". Menu items such as "About UCSF ChimeraX" open a window that is all black with no text or images.

OpenGL rendering is broken on your computer and both the Qt window toolkit and ChimeraX graphics require it to work. This probably related to your xfce Linux desktop not working with your Nvidia graphics driver.
