  • PharmChem department has started a search for a new computational chemistry professor including AI.
  • Tom Ferrin is on the search committee.
  • Candidates for the new position may also be qualified for the RBVI endowed chair position and may be redirected to it.
  • UC hiring freeze excemption was obtained because the new comp chem position is funded.

  • Discussed boltz structure prediction, deep mutational scan plots, new label/arrow gui.
  • Demonstrated Claude control of ChimeraX, attempting to have it replace fentanyl with carfentanil in opioid receptor. Did not get far due to Claude "Maximum conversation limit reached" after just 3 prompts. May be related to new mcp_server from Alexis and Zach that has new methods added that may have filled Claude context window of 200,000 tokens.
